Lighthouse by Brown Hotels
Hotel Utopia | Group Exhibition

"Rooms so disparate that they cannot coexist in one hotel, unless they were rooms from several hotels, from several periods, from several schools ..."
This paragraph from Orly Castel-Bloom’s novel “La Mina Lisa” aptly describes the exhibition “Hotel Utopia.”
The exhibition is held on minus one floor of the Lighthouse Brown Hotel, on the corner of Ben Yehuda-Allenby Street in Tel Aviv. The floor, which immediately after the exhibition will be converted into a spa, a beauty salon, and a fitness center, serves as a space detached from the outside world, corresponding with the term "Heterotopia" coined by Michel Foucault. This group show, which features works in diverse media by dozens of artists, creates a multimedial and multicultural space that holds the simultaneity of the minimalist and the busy, the original and the replicated, the high and the vulgar, the familiar and the foreign. A space that is easier entered then left.
